Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has multiple openings for Instrumentation, Data and Controls (ID&C) Engineers supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. The ID&C Engineer will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and sustainment efforts.

 

This position requires occasional scheduled extended hours and/or weekend work to meet critical contractual requirements and occasional unscheduled night or weekend support in emergency situations.

Join our elite engineering team as an Instrumentation, Data, & Control (ID&C) Engineer, where you will directly drive cutting-edge testing operations and system design at the historic AEDC complex. In this key role, you will deliver critical engineering support to maximize the performance of high-precision instrumentation and advanced data acquisition systems. You will spearhead the integration of sophisticated motion and process control systems to ensure precision positioning and seamless execution of complex test sequences. Additionally, you will optimize vital plant control systems, managing closed-loop operations of complex hardware like motors, compressors, and pneumatics to deliver exact test conditions. By applying advanced concepts in signal processing, control theory, and software, you will play a pivotal role in delivering mission-critical results for national security testing.

 

Job Duties:

Some of the specific duties for this entry-level position include:

  • System Design & Documentation:Develop ID&C system requirements, concept sketches, specifications, and material quantity estimates using CAD/CAE tools.
  • Test Operations & System Support:Deploy, support, and monitor ID&C systems before and during active aerospace ground test operations.
  • Troubleshooting & Lifecycle Maintenance:Diagnose, troubleshoot, and return ID&C systems to service while supporting ongoing lifecycle engineering and maintenance.
  • Software & Automated Control: Design, develop, and maintain Automated Control and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software.
  • Engineering Analysis & Review:Evaluate standard engineering methods and review technical design documents, drawings, and recommendations from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance:Design, develop, and execute comprehensive System Verification and Validation (V&V) test plans.
  • Project Execution & Compliance: Complete assigned engineering tasks on schedule, utilizing established common work processes and procedures across the assigned function.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and access to DoD network and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • S. Citizenship is required due to Air Force security requirements at AEDC.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior intern or co-op experience
  • Multi-disciplinary knowledge or experience (electrical engineering, mechatronics, control systems, etc.) is a plus
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with flexibility to accomplish mission objectives
  • Strong communication skills (including verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated experience successfully building relationships with teams across engineering and craft workforce
  • Strong organizational skills to track and facilitate progress on projects
  • Demonstrated proactiveness and initiative to drive results

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount BNH is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time jobs will be adjusted based upon the number of hours agreed to work at location Tennessee: Arnold Air Force, TN. 

 

L06: $80,000 - $91,000; L07: $82,000 - $100,000 / year at Arnold Air Force Base, TN.
