Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Sprinkler Fitter supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB Tennessee. The selected candidate will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

 

Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.

 

Job Summary

The successful candidate will install, inspect, and maintain fire alarm systems to ensure they comply with safety codes and function correctly.

 

Job Duties:

  • Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders
  • Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment
  • Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, according to blueprints
  • Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools
  • Perform new installations, retrofit and repair of wet, dry, pre-action and deluge fire sprinkler systems
  • Secure all tools and equipment at the end of each workday
  • Perform routine maintenance on Fire Suppression Systems
  • Isolate Suppression Systems for Outages
  • Ensures all work adheres to federal, state, and local fire safety codes, including standards from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
  • Checks pressure gauges on suppression system storage containers
  • Inspect, test, and repair sprinkler switches, flows, tamper, and/or pressure switches
  • Inspect, test and maintain suppression systems in accordance with UFC 3-601-2
  • Operate Government motor vehicles and/or other equipment
  • Maintain and repair the different clappers, valves, water gongs, pipe structures, retard chambers, as well as other devices or trim parts necessary for normal suppression operations
  • Use specialized equipment to test system functionality and identify issues
  • Diagnoses malfunctions, troubleshooting system issues, and performing necessary repairs to keep systems operational
  • Use a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments
  • Keeps accurate records of all installations, inspections, and repairs
  • It is a condition of employment to wear Personal Protective Equipment PPE in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
  • Perform other duties as required

Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Education with five years’ experience and knowledge of electrical equipment, circuits, and electronic components related to alarm systems is necessary
  • NICET Certification (Level I) or be able to obtain Level I Certification within six months of hire date and maintain Certification
  • NICET Certification (Level II) or be able to obtain Level II Certification within two years of hire date and maintain Certification
  • Familiar with various types of sprinkler systems
  • Familiar with basic mathematical functions is required
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and the AEDC local area network
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active secret security clearance
  • NICET Certification (Level III)
  • Possess a valid Certification showing successful completion of an approved Sprinkler Apprenticeship Program
