Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Non-Destructive Evaluation Technician-Level II, supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  The NDE Technician will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will function as an NDE Technician-Levell II, playing an important role in ensuring the safety and reliability of various materials, components, structures, and welding fabrication using a variety of techniques to detect flaws, imperfections, or changes in material properties that could lead to failure.

 

Job Duties:

  • Performs nondestructive testing on piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, test hardware, and rocket motors
  • Qualified and certifiable to Level II in the following NDE methods: Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT-UTT), Radiographic Testing (RT-RAM/X-ray) with film interpretation, and Visual Testing (VT)
  • Witness and verifies procedural compliance of both hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of piping systems and pressure vessels
  • Performs In-Service Inspections (ISI) of PHMS certified systems, document findings, and assist PHMS engineering in monitoring corrective action
  • Administer and witness welder performance qualification (WPQ) test
  • Prepares detailed inspection reports recording all data required by the governing code, and/or engineering requests
  • Maintains inventory, proper maintenance, and calibration of lab equipment as needed
  • Provide and monitor training for Level I inspectors
  • Performs toolbox inspections
  • Work requires overtime and off-shift hours as requested

 

  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma plus 2 years college or technical training, and 6 years of relevant and progressive experience
  • Must meet specific education and experience requirements for certification as Level II inspector in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A guidelines (MT, PT, UT, RT, VT)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network
  • Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology with curriculum in non-destructive testing and evaluation
  • Current ASNT Industrial Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) certification through The American Society of Nondestructive Testing
  • Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification through The American Welding Society
  • Current API 510/570/653 certification through The American Petroleum Institute
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word products
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Experience reading piping drawings
