Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician-Electrician, supporting TOS II, at Tunnel 9 in White Oak, Maryland. The Engineering Technician- Electrician will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

Perform the role of an Electrician responsible for the checkout and preparation of plant and test facility equipment. This includes installing and maintaining facility systems, performing maintenance and servicing to ensure operational readiness, troubleshooting electrical malfunctions, determining the condition of electrical equipment, and implementing necessary repairs. The work involves voltages ranging from 120V to 13kV, requiring a thorough knowledge of hand tools and advanced electrical test equipment. Must possess or be willing to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

             

Job Duties:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical equipment, including motors, motor control centers, generators, transformers, controllers, power circuit breakers, control input/output devices (such as switches, solenoids, potentiometers, and pushbutton stations), motor-operated valves, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and other electrical systems, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Assess the overall condition of electrical equipment, diagnose electrical malfunctions, and determine the scope of necessary repairs.
  • Utilize test equipment, including high-voltage proximity detectors, meters (loaded/unloaded), and megohmmeters (meggers).
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, and other technical specifications.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Prioritize safety by utilizing the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) system, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Job Safety Requirements (JSR), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) before and during work.
  • Maintain a safe workplace, ensuring safety is the highest priority.
  • Wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed by supervisors and in accordance with company policy; this is a condition of employment.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years’ experience in industrial electrical maintenance. Equivalent experience in education, or other fields pertinent to the position may be substituted.
  • Journeyman Electrician License/Certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA 70E standards and safe electrical work practices.
  • Current United States Citizenship is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Electrician License
  • Formal NFPA 70E Certification
  • Experience with PLCs
  • Experience working with medium- or high-voltage systems
