Overview
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior System Administrator, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a Windows System Administrator, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of Data Windows Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.
AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental tests and evaluations for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight tests. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
Job Duties:
- Deploy, configure, and optimize Windows and Linux workstation and server environments, utilizing automation tools and scripting to streamline provisioning and maintenance workflows.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for end users and contractors, leveraging advanced troubleshooting methodologies across diverse OS platforms.
- Continuously monitor system performance metrics, diagnose complex issues, and execute patch management, vulnerability remediation, and system updates via enterprise tools such as SCCM, WSUS, and Linux package managers.
- Develop, maintain, and deploy standardized Windows image builds using Windows Deployment Services (WDS), Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), ensuring rapid provisioning across the enterprise.
- Implement robust backup strategies, perform disaster recovery planning, and test restore procedures to ensure data integrity and system resilience.
- Enforce cybersecurity controls by documenting, maintaining, and auditing system security baselines, including access controls, firewall configurations, endpoint protection, and compliance with DoD and government cybersecurity standards.
- Harden systems through secure configurations, managing access via Active Directory (user accounts, GPOs, security policies), and securing network services such as DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable system improvements, leveraging virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), containerization (OpenShift), and cloud integrations where applicable.
- Automate routine administrative tasks and system configurations via PowerShell scripting and Linux shell scripting, enhancing operational efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and best practices aligned with enterprise and security standards.
- Administer Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows services.
- Manage core network services, including DNS and DHCP, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Develop dynamic testing schedules for multi-system workflows, incorporating resource allocation, project timelines, and continuous schedule adjustment based on evolving priorities.
- Partner with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, perform vulnerability assessments, and apply security patches proactively.
- Develop, test, and deploy automation scripts in PowerShell for system management, patching, and reporting purposes.
- Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues across diverse environments, utilizing comprehensive logging and diagnostic tools.
- Support virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V and Citrix, optimizing virtual workloads and ensuring secure multi-tenant environments.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and relevant certifications to continuously enhance technical expertise.
- It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field plus 2 to 7 years of progressively relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must currently possess or commit to obtaining any requisite certifications required for assuming administrative role in accordance with DoD 8140 within 6 months of hiring date.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
- Current US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with Windows imaging and deployment using WDS, MDT, SCCM, including creation and maintenance of custom Windows images.
- Deep expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Linux (including Red Hat Enterprise Linux), Windows Server OS, and enterprise storage solutions such as NetApp ONTAP and Red Hat IdM.
- Proficiency in managing DNS, DHCP, and network services in dynamic enterprise environments.
- Skilled in scripting languages, primarily PowerShell, Bash, and Python, for automation and orchestration.
- Strong understanding of virtualization (VMware vSphere, Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp) and container orchestration platforms like OpenShift.
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server (MCSA, MCSE), Red Hat Certified System Administrator/Engineer (RHCSA/RHCE), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Associate/Professional.
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SSH) and network security best practices.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex multi-platform environments.
- Effective communicator with proven teamwork abilities and technical documentation skills.
- Microsoft Certification for Windows Server and Windows Domain management (e.g., MCSA, MCSE).
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
- VMware Certification (e.g., VCP-DCV, VCAP).
- Citrix Certification (e.g., CCA-V, CCP-V)
