Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Carpenter Lead, supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB Tennessee. The selected candidate will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

 

Open to internal BNH employees only. External candidates will not be considered.  The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.

 

Job Summary

The successful candidate will perform all duties of the Carpenters as needed and provide support to the supervisor for daily planning of jobs, job safety, job coordination with other areas, job task oversight and work order task closeout.  

             

Job Duties:

  • Assist in erecting and installing scaffolding
  • Assist in repairing structures and fixtures made of wood
  • Builds concrete forms, frameworks, including partitions, joists, studs, and rafters
  • Provides daily guidance and oversight to the Carpenters and Locksmiths
  • Supports supervisor in daily planning of work assignments
  • Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered
  • Provides, at the end of the workday, daily materials inventory and daily reports of tasks performed into a local computerized maintenance system
  • Inspects crew work and assigned work areas to ensure all work performed follows company and industry safety standards and practices
  • Ensure proper housekeeping practices are observed
  • Ability to utilize/learn local computer systems for basic tasks of time keeping, communication, work order documentation and other assignments as necessary
  • Competent scaffold erector and leadership oversight of scaffold work and inspection
  • Performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood
  • Plans and lays out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools, shop tools, and standard measuring instruments
  • Select materials necessary for the work
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
  • Perform other duties as required

  • The proper use of tools and equipment commonly used in the carpentry field
  • Completing all mandated training requirements by government and management directives
  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties
  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices
  • Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures
  • Having the ability to work well under pressure

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years journeyman experience in the carpentry trade
  • Leadership experience over craft crews in industrial/commercial operations
  • Must have experience in scaffolding, with competency in erection and inspection of scaffolding
  • Knowledge and skills of computer and software and ability to learn computer software packages to perform daily job duties
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required
  • Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and the AEDC local area network
  • S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance
