Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer supporting TOS II, at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB, TN. The ID&C Engineer will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations efforts at AEDC.

 

This position requires occasional scheduled extended hours and/or weekend work to meet critical contractual requirements and occasional unscheduled night or weekend support in emergency situations.            

 

Job Summary

The individual hired for this position will function as a Network Engineer supporting test operations, system/maintenance engineering, and/or design engineering for computer networks used for real-time data acquisition systems and/or facility control systems in one or more of the various AEDC test facilities. The networks involved are critical to ensuring facility data acquisition and control systems are available and adequate to meet test mission requirements. Core responsibilities of this role include providing the engineering support required for the design, configuration, cyber security configuration and maintenance of these critical test facility networks.

 

Job Duties:

 

Network Engineers at AEDC are critical to the execution of the test mission.  Specifically, duties for this entry-level position include:

 

  • Perform work, generally within Computer Network Engineering, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment with relatively few complex features.
  • Participate in one or more of the following:
    • Application and support of test facility network systems in preparation for and during active aerospace ground test operations.
    • Network system configuration to meet DoD cyber security requirements
    • System troubleshooting and return-to-service
    • Development of network system requirements
    • Preparation of specifications and design calculations
    • Network system design, development, lifecycle system engineering and/or system application and maintenance.
    • System design, including concept sketches and layouts
    • Preparing designs, drawings and data under supervision of more experienced engineering staff
    • Preparation of engineering studies and reports
    • Preparation of material quantity estimates
    • Uses computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools
    • System Verification and Validation Test Development/Execution
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, under the mentorship of senior engineering staff.
  • Perform assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for Network Engineering; supports the use of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract.
  • Draft letters for replies to vendor correspondence.
  • Monitor and meet applicable work schedules.
  • Review design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a low to moderate degree of complexity and prepare comments and recommendations.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree focusing on Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline and zero (0) to four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and access to DoD network and computer systems
  • Must be able to obtain Security + certification within six months of employment.
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD secret or higher-level security clearance
  • Developmental experience such as internships, co-op assignments, senior/capstone projects, prior work experience, etc. in one or more of the following:
    • Network Architecture
    • Network Security
    • Network Infrastructure
    • Network Development Practices
    • Copper & Fiber-optic Cabling Systems
    • PC Hardware Systems
    • Mass Storage Systems
    • Computer Graphics
    • Operating Systems
    • TCP/IP and network development practices
    • Excellent communication and team interaction skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Mathematical or computer expertise or a combination of the same.
